NHS Blood Donor Centre, Leicester

Korendon was appointed as principle contractor on this healthcare refurbishment project.

Our team demonstrated their understanding of the needs of a sensitive healthcare environment by providing flexibility and choice. Communication and cooperation was therefore vital to the success of the scheme to ensure the refurbishment met client expectations.

The requirement was to increase from six to nine donation chairs. This enabled the centre to double collection rates.  We therefore provided a turn key solution that maximised use of the building space. Our team developed the space from derelict offices, to a modern flagship donor centre and staff training facility.

This was achieved by removing existing partitions, access floors and electrics. Most importantly, we installed a full HVAC system, as well as new power, lighting and security system. Besides this, new lightweight partitions and glassed partitions were installed to create a modern and inviting environment.

The refurbishment also included new ceilings, raised access floors, decorations, floor finishes, windows and a movable wall.

A bespoke reception desk as well as other specialist furniture were sourced to meet the client requirements for a relaxed and welcoming space. The resulting interior is spacious, modern and colourful with Wi-Fi and TVs.

Korendon worked hard to assist us in delivering our flagship Donor Centre in Leicester, which was a challenging project from start to finish. A dedicated approach, openness and ability to work with our NHS Blood and Transplant client team was one of it’s strongest attributes, which almost certainly contributed to the success of this scheme.
The quality of the finishes is an essential requirement for the delivery of a clinical facility and Korendon managed to get the very best out of their workforce meaning that we could receive handover and operate within this building with only very minor defects to remedy.
Thank you for your support and efforts received during this project. My team and I look forward to working with you again soon
